Creating the Coast Path
There are many people to thank in the development of the Coast Path, including landowners for their cooperation in the creation of new paths and volunteers for their contribution to path works.
Ramblers Association volunteers have made a major contribution to the development of the Coast Path. Volunteers working with the Coast Path Officer have been out in all weathers establishing new routes, clearing miles of path, cutting through dense scrub and excavating new routes, erecting stiles, gates, bridges and restoring sections of stone walling.
The volunteer’s efforts were recognised in 2006 with the top award for best project in the Ramblers Association Footpath Worker Awards.
Others that have
contributed to the development work include the Aberystwyth Conservation
Volunteers and United Nations Volunteers.
