CAM YN Y CYFEIRIAD CYWIR

Ar 21 Chwefror 2011, agorwyd rhan newydd o Lwybr Arfordirol Cymru, sy'n rhedeg rhwng Aberteifi a Llandudoch, gan Jane Davidson AC. Mae cwblhau’r llwybr 0.89 cilometr hwn yn gam allweddol yn natblygiad Llwybr Arfordir Cymru, gan gysylltu llwybrau’r arfordir yng Ngheredigion a Sir Benfro.

Meddai’r Cynghorydd Keith Evans, Arweinydd Cyngor Sir Ceredigion: “Mae agor y llwybr newydd hwn yn enghraifft o’r cynnydd sy’n cael ei wneud wrth gysylltu llwybrau’r arfordir o amgylch siroedd Cymru. Mae’n ddatblygiad pwysig wrth wella mynediad i’r arfordir yng ngorllewin Cymru. Wrth ddatblygu Llwybr yr Arfordir, rydym wedi rhoi Ceredigion ar y map i gerddwyr, a bydd y cynllun diweddaraf hwn yn atgyfnerthu ein hymdrechion i gynnal yr ardal a’i hadfywio.”

Crëwyd y llwybr newydd, ynghyd â rhannau eraill o Lwybr Arfordir Ceredigion, gyda chymorth a chydweithrediad perchnogion tir lleol.

Cerdded yw un o’r gweithgareddau pwysicaf i bobl sy’n ymweld â Cheredigion, ac mae datblygu llwybr yr arfordir a’i farchnata’n briodol yn fuddiol o ran hyrwyddo Ceredigion fel lle i ymwelwyr. Wrth i nifer yr ymwelwyr gynyddu, gwneir mwy o ddefnydd o lety a chyfleusterau eraill, sy’n rhoi hwb i economi’r ardal drwy ddenu mwy o gwsmeriaid i fusnesau sy’n awyddus i gynnig cyfleusterau i gerddwyr.

Datblygir Llwybr Arfordir Cymru gyda chymorth yr Undeb Ewropeaidd a Llywodraeth Cynulliad Cymru, dan y Rhaglen Mynediad i’r Arfordir.

Dywedodd Jane Davidson, Gweinidog yr Amgylchedd: ‘Rwy’n ffyddiog y bydd Llwybr yr Arfordir yn denu mwy o ymwelwyr i’r arfordir hyfryd hwn ac o ganlyniad yn rhoi hwb mawr i’r economi yn lleol.

Fodd bynnag, mae Llwybr Arfordir Cymru yn fwy nag atyniad i ymwelwyr. Gobeithiaf y bydd trigolion lleol yn gwneud yn fawr o’r cyfle i fwynhau’r golygfeydd tra’n cerdded ar hyd y llwybr ac y bydd y Llwybr yn annog pobl i fyw bywydau iach, yn unol â rhaglen Newid am Oes Llywodraeth y Cynulliad.”

Yng Ngheredigion, mae’r rhaglen yn seiliedig ar lwyddiant Llwybr Arfordir Ceredigion. Mae’r Rhaglen Mynediad i’r Arfordir eisoes wedi cynorthwyo prosiectau ar gyfer gwella mynediad ger Gwbert, creu llwybr â mynediad i bawb ar y clogwyn yn Aberporth, a gwella llwybrau eraill ar hyd yr arfordir ac ym Mro Dyfi. Bydd mwy o waith yn cael ei wneud i wella mynediad yng Ngheredigion cyn agor y llwybr Cymru gyfan.

A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

A new public footpath between Cardigan and St Dogmaels was opened by Environment Minister, Jane Davidson, on 21 February 2011. The completion of the 0.89 kilometre link is a key stage in the development of the Wales Coast Path as it links coast paths in Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.

Councillor Keith Evans, Leader of Ceredigion County Council, said: “The opening of this new route is a symbol of the progress being made in joining up coastal paths around the counties of Wales. It is an important event in the improvement of coastal access in west Wales. The development of the Coast Path has put Ceredigion firmly on the walking map and this latest initiative will strengthen efforts to sustain and regenerate the area”.

The new link, along with developments elsewhere along the Ceredigion Coast Path, has been achieved with the support and co-operation of local landowners.

Walking is a one of the most important activities for visitors to Ceredigion and a properly developed and marketed long distance coast path assists in promoting Ceredigion as a destination to visit. The increase in visitors walking the path and using tourist accommodation or other facilities is having a positive affect on the area’s economy by increasing the use of those businesses keen to offer facilities for walkers.

The development of the Wales Coast Path route is being supported by the EU and the Welsh Assembly Government under the Coastal Access Programme.

Minister for the Environment, Jane Davidson, said:
“I am confident that the Coast Path will attract more visitors to this stunning coastline and in doing so will provide a real boost to the local economy.

However, the Wales Coast Path is more than just a tourist attraction. I hope that local people will make the most of opportunities to enjoy the scenery while walking along the path and that it will encourage people to live more active and healthy lives, in line with the Assembly Government’s Change4Life programme.”

In Ceredigion, the programme is building on the success of the Ceredigion Coast Path. The Coastal Access Programme has already supported projects for the improvement of access near Gwbert, the development of an inclusive access cliff-top trail at Aberporth and other path improvements on the coast and along the Dyfi Valley. Additional access enhancements will also be undertaken in Ceredigion in the lead-up to the opening of the all-Wales route.
