The railway network only serves northern Ceredigion. None-the-less the train remains a popular way to reach the coast by public transport from most inland regions.
Stations at Aberystwyth and Borth serve the Ceredigion Coast Path while the Wales Coast Path in northern Ceredigion can also be accessed from Dyfi Junction.
Aberystwyth can also be reached by long distance bus from Cardiff and from Shrewsbury - Birmingham - London.
Frequent long distance buses run along the main coastal road between Cardigan and Aberystwyth (via New Quay and Aberporth) and on to Machynlleth. There are also services operating between Aberystwyth and Aberaeron, Aberaeron - Llangrannog - Aberporth - Cardigan, Aberystwyth and Borth and between Cardigan and Pembrokeshire.
